My Gaggia Classic seems to be ready to die, so it is time for me to upgrade. I've been looking into buying used machine. I drink espresso only and my wife drinks latte. We drink 6-8 drinks a week.

I found BDB on Craiglist for $450-500 and 10 years old ECM Giotto for about $700-800.

I've read about BDB and it seems like a good machine.

I use Rocket Giotto Revoluzionne at work and I really like it, but I am not sure about buying 10 years old...

Would love to here your thoughts.

Any used machine caveat emptor. Either you'd want be be able to test. That said personally I'd be leaning strongly towards the ECM Giotto for build quality and availability of parts. My x-Fiorenzato Bricoletta HX is just shy of 10 years old and going strong in one of my barista's kitchen.

Isn't a new Breville DB about $900? Why would you want to spend $800 on a used machine? For a bit more, you can get a new HX or BDB.

I would suggest looking for a new BDB. You can often get them on sale.

BDB at Bed Bath and Beyond. Use the always available 20% off coupon. Great price on a great machine. :P
