Best place to stumble across a deal on used equipment?

Hey guys,

I already have a couple of levers, Sama Export, and a La Pavoni. But still intrigued by seeing people stumble on good deals on machines.

I am taking a bit of a road trip in a few weeks. What kind of places are best for finding a hidden gem? I have tried estate sales and garage sales in my own area. What might be good to look for as I travel through towns on my trip? Thrift stores, antique stores? Where have people had success?

Italy.

Well,

Yeah I would love to wander around Italy looking for old espresso machines. Not gonna happen on this road trip.

In my imagination people that find these deals are probably through having all your friends know you're a coffee crazy. Then when they see a crazy machine anywhere, they think of you and give you a call.

Best place is probably still craigslist or coffeegeek forums, just because theres more chance of getting what you want. Of course less chance of picking up a Cremina 67 for $50...

Well like I said I already have two levers, via the Ebay/Craigslist route. I don't need another machine or I would still be shopping via those sites. I am really just looking to have fun finding something interesting collecting dust somewhere.
