Best place to buy the Mahlkönig K30ES Vario? - Page 2

Postby JmanEspresso on Tue Dec 07, 2010 10:51 pm

Actually, Chris has the K30 Vario now.. I JUST saw it when I was ordering some stuff. Must've just listed it, as I was there not even two weeks ago and there was no mention of the K30s.

In a phone conversation a few days ago, Gary Horne (U.S. VP for Mahlkoenig, located in NC) told me that the West Coast location remains active and that Brian remains employed by Mahlkoenig.

North Carolina: sales.
California: parts and service.

Until distribution is in place, I would call Mahlkonig USA direct for best pricing, if you are interested in the ProM.

Really - that strikes me as very surprising. The best price I've heard of for a ProM was just under 1k from Coffeshopsolutions (although I did not hear that price directly from them, but I am fairly certain it is right). Does Mahlkonig sell them new for even less (or for that matter does anyone else)? If so what are they asking and why did they set the MSRP so much higher? Usually distributors don't undercut the vendors as they will then lose all their vendors. The one exception I have seen in the past is refurbished machines or demos as Mahlkoenig does with the K30, but not new ones.

I wrote "until distribution is in place." I bought mine direct when there were no distributors. If there are distributors now, you should call them and compare for yourself.

Best price is seldom from a direct source if they have a dealer network. Mahlkonig has a dealer network regardless if they are stocking the ProM or not. Mahlkonig often bypasses the network by tagging units as demos but even then they are seldom less than the price of a new one from an aggressive dealer.

I confirmed yesterday that Hugh is correct. The delivered price of the ProM to U.S. customers is $980 from Coffeeshopsolutions at 336-316-1256. www.coffeeshopsolutions.com.
