Baratza Virtuoso Preciso vs. Mini Pro

Postby mikebrx on Fri Feb 19, 2010 6:49 pm

it has been said here often that larger diameter burrs are better. those with the trespade 38mm are minimum acceptable for espresso, virtuoso with 44mm not. usually stated because not stepless, not enough difference between steps to dial in for best shot. my questions, in your opinion, is the problems with the virtuoso related only to the step design? or is it also due to the burr design? will the preciso, with more and finer grind settings, fix whats wrong with the virtuoso, or will there still be problems because of the burrs? is larger diameter burrs always better? (i think i want a preciso)

I owned the regular Virtuoso and struggled with it for months. The biggest problem was the space between steps. The Preciso will address that issue. Whether other issues will show themselves or not? Time will tell.
