Please. You don't live in Europe. And yes, the EU is a slow, bureaucratic and expensive beast. And yes, some proposals are stupid. But they are the only form of cooperation between European countries. You try getting french, brits, germans, italians, spaniards and a host of other countries to agree on something.

Ahwell, H-B isn't the place for politics. Let's get ontopic. Before your government shuts you off

I dont have to live somewhere to have an opinion on its politics, thats a patently ludicrous suggestion. Anyway, it seems you are in agreement about the EU!

It was, the discussion was about the impact of water from coffee machines on health.

Not much risk of that in Australia!

I have been kindly informed by my local La Cimbali dealer that the M20 lever is in fact a copper boiler, nickel plated (really well fit and finished), I apologize for spreading misleading information.

I may have a chance to purchase on old (pre 1970s) Gaggia Orione. Probably needs some work.

I want a big lever machine. Space and weight are not considerations. Are there any non obvious drawbacks to this machine verses the new alternatives (other than cost)?

Plan to put it on a timer and pull a couple of doubles every morning. More use on weekends. No steaming.

Many thanks

Tom

Tom, I merged your (new) thread with your (old) thread on the closely related subject to keep the "buying decision" discussion all in one place.
