Wondering if anyone found some discounts we can take advantage of when buying?

As the holiday buying is now over you would expect that there should be some deals, stores selling off older inventory. New products likely coming out soon like the expected new version of the Gene Cafe. So just wondering if there are any advertised deals that someone may have noted that Home-Barista readers might be interested in.

On a personal note I bought a used iRoast 2 for a decent price but would likely upgrade in the future. There are most likely many roasters out there always looking to upgrade. Of course one person's upgrade results in excess hardware looking for another home.

I don't know if this is the place to discuss this. I am always amazed to see what expense we go to satisfy our hobby interest. What we are happy with today is not where we end . Start at entry level like a popcorn hot air popper and end up with a commercial roaster worth thousands. Amazing. I would think that the majority of hobbyists would be most interested in something at the level of a HotTop for home use. A sampler roaster may be not in the means of many home roasters I would think.

Still out of interest it might be useful for people to be aware of any deals that may surface.

Check the bottom of this page on the HotTop website

http://hottopusa.com/product.html

They occasionally have refurbished (like new) units that should be very good buys.

What price point are you looking at
Do you want a roaster that is ready to go - off the shelf (most have small batch limits)
Do you want to save money & are you good with your hands if so you can build one yourself
How much coffee do you want to roast based on your current consumption

Truly this is a question for all the members rather than personal. I am learning on a iRoast2. I would have preferred a roaster that could handle larger volume 1/2 to 1 lb. but the iRoast is a great roaster to learn on.
