Just for the record, I'm not a "seller". I've never sold anything on eBay. I've bought eBay auction items, though. And I've been outbid on items, too, because I didn't enter a bid amount higher than I wanted to pay. I definitely understand your frustration at auction items getting priced out of reach. (Or out of whack with reality.)

Don't forget that eBay makes a percentage off the final price, so they have a nice incentive to make sure that sellers get a nice price.

Most of the time, I use a proxy service and set a bid for what I'm willing to pay for an item and live with it. It's too easy to let emotions run away and get into a bidding war over something you really want. I noticed quite a while ago commodity items like flash cards selling on eBay that were priced higher then retail so you have to do your homework, it's not always a good deal.

Take a look at the selling prices on the Buy Sell Trade section of CG to see if you think that's true.

Hi Yakster,
I've read on one of your other posting
I picked up a La Peppina recently after missing out on two auctions for Sama Exports and I've been enjoying the experience of a lever machine.

It seem that we've bid on the two same auction, just what I meant to avoid by starting this thread. Fortunately, by missing those I finally bought an Olympia that need repair for the same price, so I think i got lucky after all!
